Resto my Ride partners with Variety the Children’s Charity

We are very proud to announce that we have partnered with Variety the Children’s Charity as our preferred charity for the series.

The Variety Bash is Australia’s largest (and favourite!) motoring event with participants travelling through the heart of Australia to areas that they would otherwise not see, and at the same time raising money for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

Dec McKearney from Bodymaster Prestige Paint and Panel and Sam Martin, Executive Producer, Resto my Ride are getting “Bash Ready” to join the other participants to drive from Melbourne to Darwin in the Variety Bash 2016.

“We can’t wait to get on the road with everyone to support such a great cause. We’ll be visiting local towns and meeting the locals along the way,” Dec said

Variety – the Children’s Charity is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn.

Variety’s mission is to help these children attain their full potential regardless of ability or background.

“The Variety Bash is all about having fun in support of Aussie kids. There are festivities along the way, from theme nights to entertainment and other activities and games on the road,” Sam said

The Variety Bash was originated by entrepreneur and philanthropist Dick Smith in 1985. That first event raised $250,000 for Variety and was known as the Bourke to Burketown Bash.

In 2015, Variety Victoria celebrated their 25th Variety Bash. Since 1992 the Variety Bash has covered over 100,000 kilometres and has raised over $23 million for children in Victoria.
Nationally, the Variety Bash has raised over $200 million for children in need.

“We are going to have a LIVE feed taking place every day for our supporters while we’re on the Bash. We want everyone to be able to experience what we’re experiencing and see how Variety really make’s a difference to kids lives all over Australia. We encourage everyone to get behind us and support this amazing cause’” Sam said

“It’s going to be a long drive. If you don’t hear from us in the first couple of days can someone please come and rescue us,” Dec laughed.

Unlike most charitable organisations that focus on a single area problem or issue, Variety focuses on multiple unmet needs of children who are sick, disadvantaged or live with disabilities and other special needs at a local level.
