Variety – the Children’s Charity is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn.
By giving practical equipment, programs and experiences, Variety helps children in need to overcome whatever obstacles they face and live life to the fullest – simply put, we help kids be kids.
Variety’s mission is to help these children attain their full potential regardless of ability or background.
Variety’s work allows children to gain mobility and freedom, to get out and about in the community, be able to communicate, achieve independence and increase self-esteem, and where possible the assistance to help them be integrated into mainstream school and activities.
With the help of dedicated volunteers and generous individual and corporate supporters, Variety Australia is able to offer core programs:
Our Freedom Program provides mobility equipment, such as wheelchairs, bikes, walkers, Liberty Swings and Sunshine Coaches so children can get out and about.
Our Caring for Kids Program provides essential medical equipment to help parents care for their seriously ill child at home and in hospital.
Our Future Kids Program provides children with intellectual or physical disabilities the equipment to assist with learning difficulties.
Our VICKIDS Scholarship Program provides children with an existing talent, who are disadvantaged or living with a disability, to achieve their full potential and follow their dreams.
Our Variety@Work Program is aimed at giving children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs the opportunity to take part in an activity or outing that they may not otherwise have the chance to experience.
IN 2015 VARIETY CELEBRATED 40-YEARS OF HELPING AUSSIE KIDS BE KIDS AND IN THE PROCESS WE DISTRIBUTED $11,993,626 WORTH OF GRANTS NATIONALLY, IMPACTING 135,878 CHILDREN ACROSS THE COUNTRY!
Today, Variety Australia delivers over $1 million in individual and organisational equipment grants every month, filling the gaps often left by governments and other organisations. Variety is often a family’s last resort to secure equipment vital to their children’s wellbeing.
For all Australian children to attain their full potential regardless of ability or background.
To empower all Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs, to live, laugh and learn.
“Unlike most charitable organisations that focus on a single area problem or issue, Variety focuses on multiple unmet needs of children who are sick, disadvantaged or live with disabilities and other special needs at a local level.”
