Solvol
Solvol® — “Ahh, Grease… It Just Makes My Day”
If you’re restoring cars properly, dirty hands aren’t a problem. They’re part of the deal.
Oil, grease, grime, old paint, the occasional mystery substance scraped off a 60-year-old bumper… it all ends up on your hands. And at the end of the day, you don’t want something fancy. You just want something that actually works.
Get Dirty Doing the Things You Love
For a while there, Solvol disappeared.
And yes, every workshop across the country noticed.
Now it’s back. Same no-nonsense attitude, still made for properly dirty hands… just with a better smell and a bit more refinement, without losing what made it great in the first place.
Which, frankly, we’re pretty stoked about.
Our Workshop Has a Hand Cleaner Problem
Here’s the honest truth about Resto HQ:
The team are terrible with hand cleaner.
Too much.
Everywhere.
All over the sink.
Sometimes up the walls.
It does Sam’s head in.
With Solvol though, you don’t need to use half the bottle just to get clean. A small amount actually does the job, which means:
- cleaner hands
- less mess around the sink (and up the walls)
- fewer Irish swear words and rants about hand-cleaner explosions in the workshop
That alone earns it serious points. And everyone gets to go home smelling like natural essential oils, instead of diff oil and thinners.
Made for Work, Not for Show
Solvol isn’t trying to be a “luxury” soap – and that’s the point.
It’s a heavy-duty hand cleaner made for people who use their hands all day. Workshop, shed, garage – even at home. It cuts through oil, grease and ingrained grime without leaving your hands feeling wrecked afterwards.
The pumice is still there, working as hard as it always has – just not trying to rip your skin off. In fact, we even keep a bar of Solvol in the shower, because when you’ve had a hard day in the workshop, it really does get everything clean.
An Aussie Icon. Right at Home at Resto my Ride
Solvol has been cleaning Aussie hands since 1915. It’s been around workshops, factories and garages longer than most of the cars we’re restoring and now that it’s back, it honestly feels like home seeing it at the sink again.
Dirty hands. Clean finish. Job done.
