Variety Vic Bash 2017 full itinerary released


As the only motoring event in Australia that supports kids in need on the road, this year The Variety Vic Bash will focus on the BIG GIVE, stopping along the way to surprise schools and organisations with grants from fundraising $$ achieved by the Bashers themselves!

The journey begins in Melbourne on Friday 18 August and travels through the heart of Australia to Fraser Island concluding on Saturday 26 August.

Where are they going?

Fri 18th Aug – Melbourne to Traralgon
Bashers depart Melbourne on the journey of a lifetime, delighting commuters along the way!

Sat 19th Aug – Traralgon to Lakes Entrance
Throughout the day Bashers will get to experience the change they are making as they take part in several major grant presentations for children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs and the organisations that support them.

Sun 20th Aug – Lakes Entrance to Narooma
On the first two days’ travel, Bashers will experience the area’s diverse mountain ranges, lakes, beaches and farmland as they get to know their Bash family for 2017.

Mon 21st Aug – Narooma to Canberra
Departing Victoria, the Variety Bash will drive through forest tracks and rugged National Parks and wind their way north to the picturesque coastal town of Narooma, situated on the far south coast of NSW.

Tue 22nd Aug – Canberra to Newcastle
Back inland, Bashers will take the short journey into Canberra and take in all the sights of the nation’s capital – from Parliament House to the renowned Australian War Memorial.

Wed 23rd Aug – Newcastle to Coffs Harbour
Beyond Canberra, Bashers will travel through a rapidly changing landscape to Newcastle, a harbour city which started out as a large convict colony before it became a centre for industry.

Thu 24th Aug – Coffs Harbour to Toowoomba
Continuing on through NSW, past historic townships and rolling hills dotted with farms and grazing land, Bashers head back to the coast for an overnight stop in Coffs Harbour – home of stunning beaches, World Heritage rainforests and the Big Banana!

Fri 25th Aug – Toowoomba to Fraser Island
Speaking of bananas, it’s time to hit Queensland! The ‘Garden City’ of Toowoomba awaits Bashers on the edge of the Great Dividing Range – 700 metres above sea level, overlooking the Lockyer Valley – for a stunning overnight stop in southern Queensland.

Sat 26th Aug – Final night party – Fraser Island
Toowoomba also marks the final leg of the journey as Bashers travel to River Heads to board the ferry to take them to their island home – Fraser Island.

How to get involved

In keeping with the spirit of the event, your Variety Bash Car is a beloved gem, at a minimum 30 years of age.

Source your own vehicle and Variety will advise you on how to fit it out.  Alternatively, you can get in touch with them and ask them about the pre-loved Bash cars they have for sale!

Your Variety Bash crew can be made up of a maximum of four people per vehicle at any time (and a minimum of two).
