Resto My Ride has partnered with WD-40® Brands and Solvol® for Resto my Ride Extended Episodes, welcoming two of the most recognisable and trusted names in workshops – in Australia and around the world – into Resto My Ride HQ.
At Resto My Ride, we don’t partner lightly. We’re fiercely proud of the brands we associate with, because we’re just as protective of what goes into our workshop as we are of the cars we restore. If a product doesn’t work under real conditions, it doesn’t belong on the bench.
WD-40 needs no introduction. The iconic blue and yellow can has earned its place in workshops globally, and at Resto HQ it’s always within arm’s reach.
“That blue and yellow can has been around workshops my whole life,” says Resto my Ride host Declan McKearney.
“We use WD-40 for freeing rusted parts, cutting through grease, protecting tools – it does a bit of everything, and it does it properly. When you’re restoring a classic, you don’t want to be guessing or reaching for something twice. It’s on our shelf, it’s because it works.”
WD-40 products are used throughout the entire restoration process, from tear-down to reassembly, in the engine bay and all the car mechanicals – exactly the way they’re used in real workshops and garages across Australia every day.
At the other end of the day is Solvol – an iconic Australian brand with a long history in sheds, factories and family homes.
For Executive Producer Sam Martin, the partnership is personal.
“I grew up with Solvol,” says Martin.
“My dad had it in the workshop, and Mum used it in the household – it was just one of those products that lived in Aussie households. Seeing the bar back now, still doing the job it’s always done, just with a slightly different smell, honestly makes me smile.”
After a short break from the market, the Solvol bar has returned with the same heavy-duty performance it’s been known for since 1915, now refined with a fresher scent of essential oils and updated formulation, without losing its no-nonsense attitude.
In true Resto My Ride fashion, Solvol features where it belongs: at the workshop sink.
“We’ve got a hand cleaner problem in the workshop,” McKearney laughs.
“Too much, everywhere – it does my head in. What we like about the Solvol bar is you don’t need half the bottle just to get clean. Less mess, fewer rants, and everyone goes home smelling a whole lot better than diff oil and thinners.”
Both WD-40 and Solvol will be featured naturally throughout Resto My Ride’s – used authentically, in real builds, under real workshop conditions.
No scripts. No forced behaviour. Just showing what already happens when you care about doing the job properly.
